  • Production Linux administration experience with Rocky Linux 8 or RHEL and strong Bash scripting.
  • Experience with Slurm or an equivalent HPC workload scheduler.
  • Hands-on experience with a major public cloud; AWS preferred, with Azure or GCP considered.
  • Experience with Ansible configuration management.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and a container runtime such as Docker, Podman, or containerd.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Terraform infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Availability to participate in a shared on-call and escalation rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Implement cloud, container, and Kubernetes strategies across IT and HPC environments.
  • Collaborate with HPC, IT, and business teams to deliver on-premises and cloud HPC solutions.
  • Automate, optimize, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues.
  • Support HPC visualization, compute, storage, interconnect, software, and systems management environments.
  • Use debugging tools to isolate problems and perform software builds, upgrades, and patches.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Use approved AI tools to support automation, coding, troubleshooting, and documentation, validating outputs for quality and security.
  • Apply SRE practices, including observability, SLI/SLOs, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
  • Provide escalation support for production HPC and cloud infrastructure through a shared on-call rotation.
  • Share HPC software development knowledge and support junior engineers.
  • Build and pin machine images and manage EC2 launch templates for rolling host and fleet replacements.
