Job summary
The DevOps Engineer builds, operates, and improves an on-premises Kubernetes platform supporting secure digital systems. Responsibilities include infrastructure automation with IaC, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and observability, platform security, high availability, and integrating services and bare-metal storage. The role also supports Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management and works with development teams to establish operational practices and technical standards.

Qualifications
- Experience operating on-premises Kubernetes environments, not solely managed cloud services.
- Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, containerd, or CRI-O and experience with service mesh.
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and using monitoring and observability tools.
- Strong Linux administration skills, including Ubuntu, RHEL, or SLES.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation; Bash, Python, and Go are relevant.
- Knowledge of virtualization, high-availability and cluster design, and networking.
- Experience with IaC technologies such as Ansible or Terraform in regulated environments.
- Experience with Kubernetes storage systems and GitOps or configuration automation.
- Teamwork, responsibility for operating critical systems, openness to new technologies, and interest in open-source tools.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate on-premises Kubernetes environments.
- Automate infrastructure processes using IaC tools.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Manage network policies, service mesh, and east-west traffic optimization.
- Ensure container platform availability, scalability, and resilience.
- Integrate services and microservices; troubleshoot and optimize complex clusters.
- Implement security measures, including RBAC, secrets management, network policies, and image scanning.
- Integrate and operate bare-metal storage solutions, CSI drivers, and distributed storage systems.
- Manage Kubernetes cluster and system component lifecycles.
- Collaborate with development teams to promote DevOps practices.
- Document operations, create operational concepts, and develop technical standards.
