Job summary
The Bundesdruckerei-Gruppe is seeking a DevOps Engineer - On Premises Cloud in Berlin. This role involves the conception, setup, and operation of on-premises Kubernetes environments, automation of infrastructure processes, and development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines. The successful candidate will ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of the container platform and integrate new services and microservices.

Qualifications
- Proven experience operating Kubernetes on-premises (not purely managed cloud operations)
- Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, containerd, or CRI-O
- Experience with Service Mesh
- Proficiency in building and operating CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with monitoring and observability
- Strong knowledge of Linux administration (Ubuntu, RHEL, SLES or similar)
- Knowledge of scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Go beneficial)
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies
- Knowledge of high availability and cluster design
- Network knowledge (TCP/IP, Load Balancing, Ingress, Firewalls, DNS)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) in regulated environments
- Experience with storage systems in Kubernetes
- Experience in GitOps or configuration automation
- Team spirit
- High sense of responsibility in operating critical systems

Responsibilities
- Conceive, build, and operate on-premises Kubernetes environments
- Automate infrastructure processes using IaC tools
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor, log, and alert the platform
- Manage network policies, service mesh, and east-west traffic optimization
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of the container platform
- Integrate new services and microservices into the Kubernetes environment
- Troubleshoot and optimize performance in complex cluster environments
- Implement security measures including RBAC, secrets management, network policies, and image scanning
- Integrate and operate bare-metal storage solutions for Kubernetes
- Manage CSI drivers and distributed storage systems
- Perform lifecycle management of Kubernetes clusters and associated system components
- Collaborate with development teams to promote DevOps practices
- Document, create operational concepts, and develop technical standards
