DevOps Engineer

Job summary

Own DevOps and security engineering for a cloud platform, hardening Azure infrastructure and making secure deployment standard across the development lifecycle. Build infrastructure as code and CI/CD automation, manage monitoring, incident response, vulnerabilities, identity, and secrets, and support compliance with PHIPA, PIPEDA, and SOC 2 in a digital health environment.

• At least four years of DevOps or security engineering experience, including at least two years in a DevOps-focused role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with Azure services, security policies, and monitoring tools.
• Proficiency with an infrastructure-as-code tool such as Terraform.
• Working knowledge of NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and OWASP.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, security, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage Azure infrastructure, including networking, virtual machines, databases, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and AKS.
• Plan and execute upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
• Support hybrid cloud and on-premises networking.
• Design and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
• Integrate SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, and secrets detection into build processes.
• Manage Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Monitor the platform, triage security alerts, and lead incident investigations, remediation, and post-incident reviews.
• Operate vulnerability scanning, prioritization, remediation, and reporting processes.
• Lead annual penetration tests and track remediation of findings.
• Manage IAM, Azure RBAC, least-privilege controls, keys, secrets, certificates, and rotation policies.
• Maintain PHIPA, PIPEDA, and SOC 2 compliance, support audits, and automate continuous compliance monitoring.
