Job summary

The Software Quality Engineer develops test and release infrastructure for radar software and firmware, helping teams detect regressions earlier and deliver repeatable, traceable releases. The role combines automated and hardware-based testing with CI/CD pipelines, hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop environments, radar test-data workflows, and release assurance, including test evidence, release notes, and software bills of materials.

• At least 3 years of experience in software quality assurance, software test engineering, or software development infrastructure.
• Experience developing unit, integration, or system-level automated tests.
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and scripting.
• Working proficiency in C++ to understand, instrument, and debug production software.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience with bug-tracking systems such as Jira.
• Experience testing and debugging software in Linux environments.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Preferred: experience with hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop infrastructure and large test datasets.
• Preferred: experience with release automation, artifact management, software bill of materials generation, or software configuration management.
• Preferred: experience with firmware or embedded-software deployment pipelines.
• Preferred: familiarity with Nix or NixOS and containerization technologies such as Docker.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute manual and automated tests for radar software and firmware.
• Test functional, regression, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop behavior.
• Document and track defects, reproduce issues, debug root causes, and verify fixes.
• Build software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure, including test rigs, emulators, and harnesses.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated test suites.
• Develop tools to collect, catalog, retain, retrieve, and replay radar test data.
• Support repeatable software and firmware deployments to lab hardware, test benches, and fielded units.
• Create release-assurance workflows for test evidence, release notes, software bills of materials, artifact versioning, and traceability.
• Define release criteria with engineering and configuration-management teams and verify software quality before deployment.
• Improve testing methodologies, coding standards, and release practices.
