DevOps Engineer (Senior) - IFS Logistics

Job summary

Own hands-on DevOps workstreams for a live SaaS logistics platform, partnering with application and data engineers to improve reliability, operational visibility, and safe delivery. Strengthen observability and GitLab CI/CD controls, manage GCP costs, and improve Terraform and Kubernetes infrastructure. Increase data-pipeline reliability across Datastream, Pub/Sub, dbt, and BigQuery while helping establish incident response and on-call practices.

Qualifications

• Strong experience operating production services on GCP.
• Practical experience operating and improving Kubernetes and Terraform infrastructure.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitLab or a similar platform.
• Experience improving metrics, logging, tracing, or alerting in a production system.
• Experience attributing cloud spend, identifying waste, and making cost-quality trade-offs.
• Experience operating data pipelines, including streaming ingestion, warehouse loads, or dbt transformations.
• Ability to identify and challenge unsafe changes and explain the requirements for release.
• Practical experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude, including verifying infrastructure changes.
• Ability to assess an imperfect system, prioritize improvements, and deliver them to production.

Responsibilities

• Improve metrics, logs, traces, and alerts across the Django API, data pipelines, and warehouse.
• Build reliable GitLab pipelines with merge-request review and deployment controls.
• Remove direct-to-production paths and establish controlled releases on a predictable weekly cadence.
• Attribute GCP spend by workload and product area, then reduce waste without compromising service quality.
• Improve Terraform and Kubernetes infrastructure so environments are reproducible, secure, and documented.
• Add failure detection, freshness checks, replay paths, and clear ownership across Datastream, Pub/Sub, dbt, and BigQuery.
• Develop incident-management and on-call practices, and automate safeguards against recurring failures.
