DevOps Engineer

Job summary

The DevOps Engineer helps operate, automate, and secure a cloud platform that enables cities and transportation departments to respond to faults and keep intersections running safely. The role covers CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes operations, observability, incident response, disaster recovery, and SOC 2 controls, supporting device and data pipelines in a distributed engineering environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure
• Production experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Strong Infrastructure as Code skills, preferably Terraform and Terragrunt
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including EKS, AKS, GKE, or self-managed deployments
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
• Scripting skills in Bash and at least one of Python, Go, or PowerShell
• Linux and networking fundamentals, including DNS, TLS, load balancing, and VPC/VNet
• Experience with observability tools such as Google Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, or Grafana
• Clear written and verbal communication in English and comfort working asynchronously with a distributed team
• Preferred: experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance programs
• Preferred: exposure to IoT, edge devices, or real-time data streaming such as MQTT, Kafka, or Pub/Sub
• Preferred: familiarity with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux, and Helm
• Preferred: background in traffic, smart city, or mission-critical systems

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, security scanning, and deployment
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
• Operate containerized workloads on Kubernetes or managed container services, including scaling, upgrades, and cost optimization
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards for service availability, latency, and device and data pipeline health
• Respond to production incidents, troubleshoot issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and write blameless postmortems
• Implement SOC 2 controls for access management, encryption, patching, and audit evidence
• Manage backups, disaster recovery, and high availability, and test against RTO/RPO targets
• Support distributed developers with environment setup, release coordination, and troubleshooting
• Maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
• Identify and automate manual operational work
