Job summary

Scout24 is seeking a DevOps Engineering Manager to lead and develop their DevOps team. The role involves ensuring reliability, availability, scalability, security, and operational excellence of platforms and production systems. Responsibilities include driving CI/CD pipeline development, infrastructure automation, and ensuring compliance with standards like ISO and GDPR.

Qualifications

  • Several years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure operations.
  • Proven experience in technical and disciplinary team leadership.
  • Extensive experience operating, scaling, and optimizing business-critical production environments, ideally in regulated industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux system administration and operating highly available and secure production systems.
  • Strong understanding of modern, scalable system architectures.
  • Experience with database technologies like PostgreSQL and MariaDB.
  • Practical experience with Git, CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins), infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible), container technologies (e.g., Docker), application platforms (e.g., Tomcat), and cloud/hybrid infrastructures.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting with Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with information security and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, ICS).
  • Analytical thinking, structured and solution-oriented work approach.
  • Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity and problem-solving.
  • Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and coach the DevOps team, fostering growth and responsibility.
  • Assume end-to-end responsibility for reliability, availability, scalability, security, and operational excellence of platforms and production systems.
  • Ensure stable, secure, and efficient operation of cloud, hybrid, and on-premises infrastructures.
  • Drive continuous development of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, infrastructure automation, and operational tools.
  • Manage monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and problem management, establishing best practices for platform operations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, and Compliance teams to improve software delivery speed, system stability, and service quality.
  • Define and establish operational standards, processes, documentation, and governance structures, ensuring auditable and transparent systems.
  • Manage compliance requirements (ISO standards, GDPR, ICS), support audits and risk analyses, and act as a central contact for stakeholders.
