DevOps / Platform & Automation Engineer (m/w/d)

Job summary

This role builds an automation platform while reducing manual work across an established IT environment, moving existing infrastructure into repeatable code, pipelines, and self-service workflows. Responsibilities include automating onboarding and identity provisioning, developing Terraform- or Ansible-based infrastructure as code and CI/CD, managing Entra ID and device updates, integrating AI agents into pipelines with security guardrails, and improving monitoring, logging, and team enablement.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or automation engineering; five or more years preferred.
• Strong German language skills for team collaboration and working with German-language systems and documentation.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD processes.
• Unix scripting and automation experience, with confidence using Linux, macOS, Bash, or Zsh; Python is beneficial.
• Understanding of modern IT infrastructure, networking, access models, and cloud environments.
• Experience with endpoint automation, mobile device management, patching, Entra ID, single sign-on, and identity lifecycle automation.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development and automation, including judging where AI is appropriate.
• Ability to create understandable, maintainable solutions and provide careful documentation.
• Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, n8n, API integrations, or secure use of AI agents in build and deployment pipelines are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Automate user and device onboarding, access permissions, certificates, backup checks, and standard configurations.
• Convert existing infrastructure into reviewable and reversible code using Terraform, Ansible, and Git.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, container workloads, and reproducible environments.
• Develop an automated patch and update strategy, including rollout rings, device enforcement, and reporting.
• Manage and strengthen Entra ID, conditional access, identity lifecycle, permissions, and SaaS single sign-on.
• Integrate AI agents into CI/CD workflows for reviews, draft changes, dependency and patch requests, and build analysis, with appropriate security guardrails.
• Improve monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Automate identity provisioning and access management across Entra ID and SaaS tools using secure secret management.
• Enable teammates through reviews, pairing, and guardrails, working closely with system administrators.
