Job summary
The DevOps and Systems Engineer ensures the reliability, security, automation, deployment, and monitoring of Microsoft Azure cloud services and internal technology infrastructure. The role builds Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using tools such as Bicep, ARM, Terraform, and PowerShell, while supporting Windows systems, networking, identity, backups, disaster recovery, and production troubleshooting. The work spans development, UAT, and production environments, including systems used in a regulated insurance setting.

Qualifications
- Three to five or more years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related role, including production experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional experience with Azure administration, Azure DevOps or comparable CI/CD platforms, Windows infrastructure, PowerShell, networking, Git or source control, monitoring, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, and security fundamentals.
- Experience troubleshooting across the technology stack.
- Strong technical documentation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with development teams.
- Experience with Bicep or Terraform, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, App Service, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Microsoft Entra ID, Defender for Cloud, or hybrid cloud and on-premises environments is preferred.
- Experience in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or another regulated environment is preferred.
- Microsoft Azure certifications are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administer Azure subscriptions, resource groups, cloud services, networking, Key Vault, monitoring, and backups across development, UAT, and production environments.
- Build and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines for builds, testing, deployment, and release management.
- Develop infrastructure provisioning and configuration automation using Bicep, ARM, Terraform, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Configure Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, alerts, dashboards, and performance monitoring.
- Troubleshoot Windows servers, DNS, DHCP, certificates, file services, authentication, scheduled services, and corporate infrastructure.
- Support Microsoft Entra ID, application registrations, managed identities, service principals, role-based access, MFA, SSO, and least-privilege practices.
- Support Azure and internal networking, including virtual networks, subnets, network security groups, private endpoints, VPNs, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
- Maintain backup and recovery processes and validate restoration, redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery.
- Apply system hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, encryption, secret management, logging, and access controls.
- Monitor Azure utilization and spending; identify opportunities to improve performance or reduce costs.
- Maintain infrastructure diagrams, inventories, standards, deployment and recovery procedures, runbooks, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Support third-party integrations and connectivity requirements, including certificates, SFTP, APIs, IP allowlists, VPNs, and DNS.
- Provide scheduled maintenance and after-hours support for production deployments, outages, and critical systems.
