Job summary
The DevSecOps role builds and operates secure, highly available, scalable production infrastructure for a data-sovereignty platform, with responsibility across the service lifecycle from development through production operations. Key work includes observability, Kubernetes resilience, disaster recovery, backups, incident response, and performance optimization, including a 99.9% control-plane uptime target. The role applies Kubernetes security, secure networking, service meshes, HashiCorp Vault, and vulnerability management.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in Go, Bash, or Python.
- Experience with Kubernetes RBAC, Pod Security Standards or predecessors, admission controllers, and network policies.
- Knowledge of TLS, mutual TLS, ingress and egress controls, and VPN tunneling.
- Experience operating and securing service mesh technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, or Consul Connect.
- Production experience with HashiCorp Vault, including dynamic secrets, authentication backends, and policy design.
- Knowledge of HAProxy or equivalent proxies and load balancers, including L4/L7 security protections.
- Familiarity with CVE triage and integrating vulnerability scanners into CI/CD and registry workflows.
- Exposure to runtime security tools such as Falco or eBPF-based monitoring and to incident response workflows.
- Ability to discuss infrastructure security decisions with auditors, penetration testers, and security vendors.
- Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or cloud security postures is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop observability for self-hosted deployments, including monitoring, alerting, metrics, and logging.
- Improve platform availability and fault tolerance, including resilience to availability-zone outages and node failures.
- Maintain 99.9% control-plane uptime and design disaster recovery with active/passive deployments and failover.
- Build highly available application deployment infrastructure and processes.
- Maintain backup and recovery strategies that protect data integrity and minimize downtime.
- Integrate incident detection and paging solutions.
- Scale platform applications through performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization.
- Collaborate with product engineers to incorporate reliability and scalability into product design.
