Job summary
The Director, Trading & Execution Services Tech - Head of Architecture & DevOps will lead the development and implementation of strategic application architecture across Trading and Execution Services (TES) Technology. This role involves driving innovation, managing multiple teams, and promoting the adoption of AI and DevOps tooling. The director will also ensure technology plans align with organizational goals and address complex technical and business challenges.

Qualifications
- Degree in a related discipline
- Strong technical background
- Deep understanding of Capital Markets products and Electronic Trading practice
- Highly familiar with Electronic Trading practices and workflows
- Strong leadership skills to engage teams, allocate leadership, work effectively, remove obstacles, and secure timely outcomes aligned to RBC's business strategy and technology architecture
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong negotiating skills
Responsibilities
- Represent Trading and Execution Services (TES) in QTS Architectural forums
- Contribute to the architectural strategy of QTS and RBC
- Ensure applications are fit for purpose in the competitive landscape of Electronic Trading within Capital Markets
- Navigate considerations such as latency, throughput, and resiliency
- Develop and execute application architecture strategies aligned with QTS and RBC objectives
- Integrate emerging technologies and adhere to enterprise standards
- Lead and oversee multiple teams on complex projects
- Foster collaboration across departments to deliver high-quality solutions
- Drive the adoption of DevOps and AI tooling across TES for expeditious technology delivery
- Oversee Cybersecurity posture across TES and track progress against internal targets
- Create and maintain common technology frameworks and platforms for adoption across TES and QTS
- Proactively educate staff within TES on architectural and development operations standards and practices
- Establish policies, processes, and standards to optimize application architecture for scalability, efficiency, and business alignment
- Champion AI adoption through hands-on enablement, training sessions, pairing with developers, and internal education programs
- Provide expert guidance on architectural designs and solutions
- Address highly complex challenges and shape strategies for impactful outcomes
- Manage application architecture initiatives of significant complexity
- Apply advanced technical expertise to solve abstract problems
- Make independent decisions across business units
- Make independent decisions on program, technical, or operational strategy for the department
