Platform Engineer

Job summary

Build and enhance platform capabilities in a large-scale engineering environment, focusing on CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and automation. Create reusable delivery patterns and GitOps workflows, and support secure, scalable platforms through observability, troubleshooting, documentation, and production on-call support. The role uses technologies including Terraform, CloudFormation, Docker, Helm, ArgoCD, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Understanding of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Ruby.
• Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD.
• Experience with Helm deployments.
• Understanding of Kubernetes isolation, quotas, and scalability.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Strong understanding of DevOps automation and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Preferred: experience with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Preferred: experience with microservices architectures.
• Preferred: knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
• Preferred: understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
• Preferred: exposure to database management and optimization.
• Preferred: experience developing self-service capabilities for engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for software builds, testing, and deployment.
• Develop reusable platform capabilities and standardized delivery patterns.
• Create service templates, pipeline components, Kubernetes baselines, and observability packages.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Build and maintain containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Develop and manage Helm deployments.
• Implement Kubernetes controls for isolation, resource quotas, and scalability.
• Enable self-service engineering through APIs, CLIs, and automated workflows.
• Implement GitOps workflows using tools such as ArgoCD.
• Monitor platform performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Implement monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Support development teams with application integration and deployment.
• Apply security best practices to platforms and deployment processes.
• Document platform configurations, processes, and engineering practices.
• Participate in production on-call support.
