Job summary

Starbucks is seeking a Cloud Engineer – Lead with expertise in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) to design, build, and operate a secure and scalable Kubernetes-based platform.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience in cloud, platform, or software engineering
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams or serving as a technical lead
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Deep experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Expert-level Kubernetes knowledge
  • Experience with Argo CD and GitOps delivery models
  • Understanding of DevOps and Agile principles
  • Experience operating high-scale, highly available platforms

Responsibilities

  • Communicate platform and Kubernetes architecture decisions to stakeholders
  • Establish partnerships with application, security, networking, and business teams
  • Act as a technical leader and mentor for Kubernetes and Azure platform engineering
  • Design, implement, and operate Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) platforms
  • Build and maintain a secure, multi-tenant Kubernetes platform
  • Own Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management and operational health
  • Design and operate Kubernetes-native solutions using Argo CD for GitOps
  • Implement best practices for ingress, egress, service discovery, and policy enforcement
  • Drive automation using Terraform, Azure Bicep, and Crossplane
  • Ensure implementations align with Information Security policies
  • Implement telemetry, logging, and monitoring across platforms
  • Support and operate 24x7 production environments
