Job summary
iProov is seeking an Engineering Manager, DevOps to lead their DevOps engineering team. This role involves technical leadership in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and platform operations, as well as people management responsibilities. The manager will be responsible for the delivery, reliability, and culture of the team, ensuring high performance and professional development for each engineer.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on DevOps or platform engineering experience.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven ability to drive alignment and establish clear accountability within a team of experienced engineers.
- Leads with candor and emotional intelligence, delivering clear feedback and building psychological safety.
- Sets high standards and holds people to them with fairness, consistency, and investment in success.
- Comfortable making and communicating unpopular decisions.
- Strong emotional intelligence to read team dynamics and intervene constructively.
- Builds trust through credibility and consistency.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and containerized deployments, including Helm chart authoring and management.
- Strong, hands-on experience with GCP (Cloud Run, PubSub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Jobs, Cloud Secret Storage, KMS).
- Working knowledge of equivalent AWS and Azure services.
- Expert-level proficiency with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Ansible in production environments.
- Solid command of CI/CD tooling: ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, GitLab pipelines, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Ability to design, debug, and improve pipelines across multiple platforms.
- Strong Linux command-line skills and Bash scripting proficiency.
- Comfortable operating and troubleshooting production systems at the OS level.
- Experience with secrets and key management in a cloud-native context (GCP KMS, Azure Key Vault).
- Familiarity with multi-cloud storage (GCP Storage buckets, AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage) and networking constructs (VPC, VNET).
- Experience with incident management tooling and on-call practices (e.g., PagerDuty).
- Security-first mindset, experienced in DevSecOps practices, vulnerability scanning, and compliance integration.
Responsibilities
- Own the delivery, reliability, and culture of the DevOps engineering team.
- Act as a credible technical authority on cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and platform operations.
- Provide clear direction, hold the team accountable, and develop engineers professionally.
- Set clear expectations and provide honest feedback.
- Create an environment where high performance is the standard.
- Navigate difficult conversations with directness and fairness.
- Own the architecture, reliability, and evolution of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices across GCP, AWS, and Azure.
- Set and enforce engineering standards for infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, DevSecOps, and observability.
- Lead the design and improvement of containerized deployment workflows using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Own the CI/CD toolchain (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, GitLab pipelines, Azure DevOps pipelines) for fast, reliable, and fit-for-purpose pipelines.
- Drive secrets management, key management (GCP KMS, Azure Key Vault), and security integration into the delivery pipeline.
- Identify and address tooling gaps across monitoring, alerting, observability, and incident response.
- Own the on-call process, runbooks, escalation paths, and post-incident reviews.
- Directly manage 4-5 DevOps engineers, including consistent 1:1s and goal setting.
- Establish unambiguous ownership and accountability within the team.
- Give direct, specific, and prompt feedback on performance.
- Actively develop engineers' skills and careers through growth opportunities and stretch assignments.
- Manage team dynamics with fairness and firmness, addressing interpersonal friction constructively.
- Act as the primary point of contact for DevOps matters in cross-functional planning, incident response, and infrastructure governance.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Core Platform to ensure platform reliability and tooling meet SLAs.
