Job summary
The Cloud Engineer will contribute to the design and delivery of cloud services within SSE, focusing on driving cloud infrastructure enhancements and developing toolchain and automation patterns. This role is integral to SSE's digital transformation and migration of applications to Cloud, ensuring platforms meet efficiency, resilience, and availability standards. The position offers the opportunity to work on infrastructure projects across various services and cloud platforms.

Qualifications
- Understanding of Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure and Cloud Native Architectures
- Experience managing Operating Systems (Windows and/or Linux)
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of operational support procedures
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle
- Ability to write software in at least one general-purpose programming or scripting language (Python, Go, Bash, Powershell)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
- Experience with Configuration Management (Ansible/Puppet)
- Exposure to CI/CD solutions and tools (GitHub, Gitlab, or Azure DevOps)
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and delivery of cloud services
- Drive cloud infrastructure enhancements
- Develop toolchain and automation patterns
- Participate in digital transformation and application migration to Cloud
- Ensure platform efficiency, resilience, and availability standards are met
- Contribute to infrastructure projects across various services and cloud platforms
- Collaborate with strategists, architects, and subject matter experts to craft technical solutions
- Partner with Product Owners and management for demand planning and delivery
- Design and develop automation, self-service, and deployment frameworks
- Identify and progress opportunities for continuous improvement in engineering, delivery, and operations
- Support stakeholders in adopting Cloud Native Application Architecture patterns
- Provide regular progress updates and flag issues to stakeholders
- Ensure architecture and Cloud infrastructure accommodate security and software lifecycle patterns
