Job summary

The Field Infrastructure Engineer maintains, troubleshoots, and expands euNetworks' fiber infrastructure. This role involves hands-on tasks such as OTDR measurements, splicing, and carrying out installation and expansion projects in the field and in data centers. The engineer will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure high network availability and quality.

Qualifications

  • Completed technical training (e.g., IT systems electronics, telecommunications engineering, electrical trades) or equivalent specialized further training
  • Proven professional experience in fiber infrastructure
  • Valid driving license class B required
  • Driving license class BE preferred
  • Very good German language skills
  • Basic English language skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and expand euNetworks' fiber infrastructure
  • Perform OTDR measurements
  • Perform splicing
  • Carry out installation and expansion projects in the field and in data centers
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure high network availability and quality
  • Perform preventive maintenance of passive fiber infrastructure (routes, splice closures, distribution points)
  • Expand existing infrastructure by installing high-fiber-count backbone cables
  • Build new fiber POPs
  • Commission new fiber SPANs
  • Locate complex faults using OTDR measurements
  • Rectify faults by fusion splicing or cable replacement
  • Conduct detailed on-site surveys
  • Accurately document current infrastructure conditions for audits and expansions
  • Perform acceptance measurements according to euNetworks standards and requirements
  • Take responsibility for correct installation and implementation on national and international large-scale projects
  • Coordinate with operational partners and their field technicians
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call roster
  • Work in modern data centers (colocation) and public areas (manholes, duct systems)
