Founding Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

Build and operate the production cloud foundation for a platform that provides reliable, governed context to AI systems. The founding infrastructure engineer shapes architecture and standards, taking systems from initial design through deployment and scale while developing Kubernetes infrastructure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, secure networking, access controls, and database infrastructure. The environment may involve AWS, GCP, or Azure and tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5 to 12 years of experience, including at least 5 years building and operating production cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including networking, storage, compute, and managed services.
• Production experience architecting and managing Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Experience implementing infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar tools.
• Experience building and operating cloud or data infrastructure, including CI/CD, observability, security, and access control.
• Experience designing relational and NoSQL database infrastructure at scale.
• Comfort making architectural decisions and building from scratch in an early-stage or high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build cloud infrastructure from initial architecture through deployment and scale.
• Set foundational cloud architecture decisions, infrastructure standards, and best practices.
• Build and operate Kubernetes infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, monitoring, observability, and logging systems.
• Design and maintain secure cloud networking, access controls, and database infrastructure.
