Job summary
Provides fractional senior engineering expertise across client Microsoft cloud, infrastructure, networking, identity, endpoint management, and security environments. The role resolves complex Tier 3 escalations, designs and delivers infrastructure and cloud solutions—including Azure Virtual Desktop—and improves security, automation, and technical standards. It also documents solutions and coaches technical team members to build lasting capability.
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or senior technical consulting.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Azure, and Windows-based infrastructure.
- Strong experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Strong experience with Conditional Access, modern identity security, enterprise networking, and firewalls.
- Experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud and infrastructure solutions and leading technical initiatives through production implementation.
- Ability to communicate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and clients.
- Comfort operating in a consulting or multi-client environment.
Responsibilities
- Resolve complex Tier 3 escalations across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, endpoints, networking, servers, and infrastructure.
- Diagnose multi-layered technical problems, lead root-cause analysis, and implement lasting solutions.
- Architect, deploy, administer, and troubleshoot Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Design, deploy, administer, and troubleshoot Azure Virtual Desktop and Azure infrastructure.
- Design and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networks, routing, and switching.
- Lead or support infrastructure and cloud projects from solution design through implementation and handoff.
- Improve efficiency and reliability through PowerShell automation and repeatable processes.
- Create technical documentation, standards, runbooks, diagrams, and implementation procedures.
- Coach technical team members and share troubleshooting knowledge.
