Freelancer (Senior) DevOps Engineer (m/w/d)

Job summary

The Senior DevOps Engineer role is centered on enhancing and stabilizing IT infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 operational efficiency. Responsibilities include managing Kubernetes clusters, automating infrastructure processes with Terraform and Ansible, and implementing monitoring solutions with Prometheus and Grafana, while fostering collaboration with SRE and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• Proficient in German at least at B2 level
• Willingness to attend in-person meetings in Hamburg every two weeks
• Several years of experience in operational IT management (network, server, virtualization)
• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes and modern DevOps practices
• Deep understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and observability
• Experience with multi-cloud/hybrid environments (e.g., AWS, OVH, gcore)
• Hands-on mentality and high quality standards
• Preferably programming skills in Golang or Python

Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure availability of production infrastructure (Kubernetes, network, storage)
• Automate infrastructure processes using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.
• Implement monitoring and observability with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Cribl.io
• Conduct troubleshooting and incident response in production environments
• Contribute to self-service platforms, GitOps, and developer enablement
• Continuously optimize infrastructure, security, costs, and performance
• Collaborate closely with SRE and DevOps colleagues across teams
• Actively participate in migrations, e.g., VMware Nutanix or Fortigate
