Job summary
Designs, builds, and maintains secure, scalable, highly available infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform and on-premises environments. The role covers Terraform-based infrastructure as code, CI/CD automation, GKE and other GCP services, container orchestration, monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery. It also embeds DevSecOps and security controls in regulated or security-sensitive environments.

Qualifications
- Commercial experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer, or in a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Practical experience implementing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Experience building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of Linux administration, networking, DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container-based application deployments.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or equivalent scripting.
- Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative software development workflows.
- Understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, encryption, and secure configuration.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and production incident resolution.
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and modern DevOps principles.
- Active security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, highly available GCP infrastructure.
- Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform and other automation tools.
- Develop, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines.
- Automate deployments, configuration management, and operational processes with scripting.
- Manage GCP services, including GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, IAM, and VPC networking.
- Implement containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability.
- Apply cloud security practices, including least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Support incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and service improvement.
- Collaborate with development, security, and architecture teams to embed DevSecOps practices.
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, resilience, and business continuity solutions.
- Maintain compliance with security policies, governance requirements, and operational standards.
- Create technical documentation and operational runbooks, and share knowledge.
