Job summary

The Head of Infrastructure & Cloud Services leads the strategy, operations and transformation of Core Infrastructure, Cloud, Networks and Database Services across the UK and EU. The role builds an integrated capability, delivers a multi-year roadmap, and ensures services are secure, resilient and cost-effective while modernising a hybrid technology estate through automation and AI-enabled operations. It also oversees service partners, budgets, cloud cost optimisation with FinOps, and collaboration across technology, security, risk and business teams.

• Proven experience leading operations and transformation for complex, business-critical infrastructure spanning cloud, networks and database services.
• Track record leading multidisciplinary technical teams through functional leaders and establishing shared accountability.
• Experience modernising large, distributed, highly available environments while maintaining service continuity.
• Broad experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructure, including AWS, Azure and/or GCP, network modernisation and enterprise databases.
• Experience in infrastructure security, vulnerability management, patching, technology lifecycle management, disaster recovery and service resilience.
• Experience managing technology risk, audit and control remediation, technical debt, and end-of-life or end-of-support exposure.
• Experience leading blended delivery models with internal teams, strategic partners and outsourced providers.
• Strong financial and commercial management skills, including budget ownership, supplier performance and cost optimisation.
• Senior-level understanding of compute, storage, virtualisation, cloud platforms, networking, databases and resilience.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across technical and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, operations and transformation across Core Infrastructure, Cloud, Networks and Database Services.
• Develop and deliver a multi-year transformation roadmap balancing stability, risk reduction, modernisation and business priorities.
• Own the operational health, security, reliability, scalability and recoverability of infrastructure and cloud services.
• Establish and maintain resilience, business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities, including regular testing.
• Manage delivery through internal teams, strategic partners and outsourced service providers.
• Own budgets, supplier performance, commercial outcomes and value delivery across infrastructure and cloud services.
• Work with FinOps to improve cloud cost reporting, forecasting, transparency and optimisation.
• Communicate technical issues, risks and investment choices as clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
