Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

The Cloud Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer supports and develops infrastructure across on-premises datacentres and Microsoft Azure, helping maintain a secure, resilient, and scalable environment. The role manages Azure virtual machines, networks, and storage; troubleshoots complex issues; supports patching, disaster recovery, backups, and business continuity; and advances automation through scripting and Infrastructure as Code. It also involves collaboration on infrastructure projects and participation in an on-call rota.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience managing hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and cloud services
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure networking, storage, virtual machines, and security services
• Windows Server administration experience, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, and VPN technologies
• Experience supporting virtualised and enterprise infrastructure environments
• Strong documentation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
• Infrastructure automation, scripting, and modern deployment methodology experience is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and enhance hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and cloud platforms
• Implement and manage Azure virtual machines, networks, storage, and related services
• Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure issues using root cause analysis
• Maintain infrastructure security through patching, vulnerability remediation, and access controls
• Support disaster recovery, backups, and business continuity
• Improve automation and standardisation through scripting, Infrastructure as Code, and repeatable deployments
• Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and technology partners on infrastructure projects
• Participate in an on-call rota and provide out-of-hours support when required
