Infrastructure Architect

Job summary

The Infrastructure Architect shapes target-state infrastructure architecture and cloud roadmaps for a large retail and hospitality environment, guiding strategic investment and modernization across Azure, Google Cloud Platform, on-premises systems, and enterprise networks. The role designs resilient solutions, produces HLD, DLD, and LLD artefacts and cost-risk options papers, leads architecture governance reviews, and collaborates with engineering, cybersecurity, network, risk, and business teams.

• Experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical infrastructure architectures in large, complex enterprises.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services, GCP, and IaC using Terraform or ARM templates.
• Experience designing traditional compute and storage infrastructure and enterprise LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN networks.
• Relevant IT tertiary qualification or an applicable Azure or Google Cloud architect certification.
• Experience or familiarity preparing artefacts for and presenting to governance bodies such as an ARB or AAF.
• Retail, FMCG, or customer-facing commercial architecture experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Design resilient infrastructure and network solutions across Azure, GCP, and on-premises environments.
• Produce high-level, detailed-level, and low-level design artefacts.
• Present solution proposals and options papers to architecture governance forums.
• Develop infrastructure guidelines, target patterns, and guardrails with Enterprise Architecture.
• Assess commercial viability, cost, and risk when evaluating architecture options.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, network, and risk teams to assess dependencies, review solutions, and record delivery risks.
• Resolve complex architecture bottlenecks and deviations from standards.
