Job summary
NatWest Group is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer specializing in Db2 to join their Digital X team. This role involves engineering Db2 related infrastructure, utilizing automation for testing and deployment, and collaborating with colleagues to share engineering best practices. The position is mostly remote, requiring office visits twice a month, and is based in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications
- Experience in Db2 database design and administration
- Experience with automation scripting such as Python or Shell
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Experience in utilizing modern infrastructure as code via tooling
- Experience with IBM Db2 toolset is beneficial
- Good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets
- Ability to relate everyday work to the vision of the feature team, platform, and domain
- Strong experience in Db2 for z/OS database design principles and best practices
- Proven experience conducting SQL performance reviews and optimization
- Hands-on experience with DDL deployments and implementation in accordance with established standards and governance
- Ability to design and implement robust housekeeping, backup, and recovery strategies
- Working knowledge of the development of CI/CD pipelines using modern tooling
- Experience of using observability tools and techniques
- Ability to use data, information, and user sentiment to continuously improve solutions
- Experience of working with technology deployed to an on-premise datacenter
- Understanding of a DevOps mindset, collaboration, automation, and tooling
Responsibilities
- Engineer Db2 related infrastructure technology complying with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built in
- Use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product
- Work with customers to help them use products appropriately through a user's CI/CD pipeline
- Work with colleagues across the bank to share engineering best practices
- Contribute to and manage the selection, creation, and maintenance of technologies required to meet customer needs, strategic targets, and architecture outcomes
- Develop products using modern engineering practices and tools
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and support engineered products
- Respond to user feedback, new feature requests, and resolve production issues
- Develop technical skills through continuous learning and development
- Work within a team to design intuitive, self-service infrastructure products
- Contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutions
- Work with users to help use products and gain feedback
- Provide operational support for pattern or product related issues
- Generate innovative ideas and drive the delivery of those through product features
- Advise and deliver projects using Db2 for z/OS database design principles and best practices
