Job summary
The Infrastructure Engineer is tasked with managing wastewater infrastructure programs, focusing on inspection, data collection, and condition assessment. Key responsibilities include overseeing engineering consultants, developing capital plans for asset rehabilitation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for water and wastewater systems.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical or Industrial Engineering
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
- Minimum five (5) years demonstrated experience in the approvals, design, construction and operating processes of water and wastewater collection, distribution and treatment systems
- Demonstrated experience in water and wastewater infrastructure management
- Solid understanding of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure management and maintenance principles
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of water, wastewater treatment, collection and distribution system management
- Understanding of budgeting process, strategic planning and program development
Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes water and wastewater (WWW) system performance
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders
- Oversees engineering consultants and projects
- Evaluates assessment findings and engineering recommendations
- Develops and prioritizes capital plans and budgets
- Defines project scope and develops capital projects
- Plans, develops and coordinates infrastructure inspection and data collection programs
- Conducts condition rating for WWW infrastructure
- Ensures quality assurance activities
- Assists in the development and management of quality control programs
- Liaises with and maintains positive relationships with internal and external contacts
- Responds to enquiries on issues related to the assigned projects
- Works with management to develop relevant performance metrics
