Job summary
Provides technical leadership for the operation, modernization, and reliability of a large-scale IBM z/OS mainframe platform. The role resolves operating system and subsystem issues, installs and maintains system software, optimizes performance, and coordinates with infrastructure teams to deliver secure, resilient services. Core technologies include RACF, JES2, z/OSMF, SMP/E, IPCS, RMF, Splunk, REXX, and IBM High Level Assembler.

Qualifications
- Working knowledge of IBM z/OS architecture, system control, processing logic, and RACF security.
- Experience supporting IBM z/OS systems and subsystems in large-scale, globally deployed environments.
- Ability to develop and enhance tools, standards, and methodologies for enterprise z/OS environments.
- Advanced problem analysis, root-cause identification, and issue-resolution skills.
- Knowledge of IBM zEnterprise server hardware and data centre facilities.
- Experience installing and servicing z/OS software using z/OSMF and SMP/E.
- Experience using IBM electronic support resources, including IBMLINK.
- Subject-matter expertise in mainframe systems programming and technical guidance.
- Experience supporting z/OS 3.1 environments running JES2.
- Experience with IPCS, RMF, MICS, SMF, Debug Tool, SLIP, and Splunk.
- Programming experience with REXX and IBM High Level Assembler.
- Experience with RACF administration and security support.
- Experience defining and maintaining mainframe hardware configurations using HCD.
- Experience with CICS, Db2, IMS, or IBM MQ is beneficial.
- Experience with BMC or Broadcom mainframe products is beneficial.
- Technical writing skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and operational support for the z/OS platform, including systems programming and data centre capabilities.
- Design, develop, and implement systems engineering solutions.
- Provide technical direction for projects and operational activities.
- Diagnose, analyse, and resolve z/OS operating system and subsystem issues.
- Install, configure, test, maintain, and upgrade z/OS and associated system software.
- Support operating systems, hardware, and software to maintain stability, availability, and recoverability.
- Evaluate systems and recommend practical technical solutions.
- Optimize mainframe resources, system performance, and operational efficiency.
- Plan hardware and software changes, including operating system interfaces and dependencies.
- Coordinate with networking, storage, security, application, and other technical teams.
- Maintain system, configuration, operational, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Assess emerging technologies and recommend solutions for platform requirements.
