Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

The Infrastructure Engineer protects the health, performance, security, and continuity of customer environments across Microsoft Azure and on-premises infrastructure. The role monitors capacity and availability, resolves complex incidents, manages secure configurations and patching, and maintains backup and disaster recovery readiness. It also coordinates supportable changes with Service Desk, Cyber Security, and project teams, using technologies including Windows Server and Azure Virtual Desktop.

• Experience with Windows Server, Azure infrastructure, identity, networking, virtualisation, storage, and backup technologies.
• Azure hybrid certification, particularly AZ-800 and AZ-801, is a strong foundation for the role.

Responsibilities

• Own the health of customer infrastructure across Azure and on-premises environments.
• Monitor availability, performance, and capacity, addressing emerging issues proactively.
• Maintain secure configurations, access controls, and patching standards.
• Escalate and resolve complex infrastructure incidents across servers, storage, virtualisation, networking, and cloud services.
• Use root-cause findings to prevent recurring incidents.
• Plan and deliver patches, upgrades, and maintenance with testing, change control, and rollback plans.
• Maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Recommend improvements to infrastructure stability, security, and efficiency.
• Coordinate with Service Desk, Cyber Security, and project teams to ensure changes are supportable.
• Create runbooks and accurate records, and support knowledge transfer.
