Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

Sonepar UK is seeking a proactive Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team, focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust IT infrastructure with an emphasis on cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with infrastructure design and maintenance across on-premise and cloud environments
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft server, cloud and virtualization technologies
• Understanding of modern security tools and fundamentals, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and deliver timely, effective solutions
• Strong people skills and a collaborative mindset
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work across multiple sites
• Experienced in working within Agile frameworks

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain on-premise and cloud infrastructure (Azure)
• Assist with infrastructure upgrade projects and contribute to new solution designs
• Manage and monitor servers, storage systems (SAN/NAS), and network devices
• Ensure system performance, availability, and data integrity through proactive monitoring and backups
• Support and test Disaster Recovery plans and contribute to business continuity strategies
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing
• Respond swiftly to incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal recovery
• Stay current with emerging technologies and security trends
