Job summary

Sunderland AFC is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and support the club’s stadium and IT infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation during matches and events. This role involves managing network systems, Wi-Fi, CCTV, PA systems, and operational technologies, as well as overseeing Microsoft 365 and SharePoint platforms. The engineer will also design, deploy, and support core IT systems with a focus on high availability and security.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum three years of experience supporting infrastructure, preferably in sports, stadiums, or large-scale venues
  • Solid understanding of network infrastructure, Wi-Fi deployment, CCTV systems, and stadium technology
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade networking equipment and protocols
  • Familiarity with stadium safety and operational standards
  • Experience with stadium access control, ticketing systems, and large-scale AV/IT solutions
  • Strong grasp of security standards, data protection, and compliance specific to a sports environment
  • Sharp problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support stadium and IT infrastructure
  • Ensure smooth operation during matches and events
  • Manage stadium network systems, Wi-Fi, CCTV, PA systems, and operational technologies
  • Oversee Microsoft 365 and SharePoint platforms
  • Ensure availability, security, and governance of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
  • Design, deploy, and support core IT systems (servers, switches, routers, firewalls, cloud services)
  • Implement security controls and ensure compliance with data protection standards
  • Provide timely technical support to staff, coaching teams, and external partners
  • Monitor system performance and plan upgrades
  • Develop disaster recovery plans and backup solutions
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, contractors, and external service providers
  • Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, procedures, and compliance records
