Job summary

Infrastructure Engineer responsible for managing and securing AWS-focused infrastructure, including legacy VMware migration, with an emphasis on automation, patch management, and security best practices. This role focuses on infrastructure operations and complements an existing DevOps engineer, offering strong mentorship and learning opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Experience with VMware vSphere environments and infrastructure migrations
  • Experience with legacy system modernization and cloud migration projects
  • Experience with Azure services (Entra ID, Azure DevOps, Performance Insights)
  • Security certifications (AWS Security, CompTIA Security+)
  • Experience with patch management tools and processes
  • Experience with 24/7 production environments and on-call operations
  • Experience with cloud-agnostic solution design
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code best practices (Terraform)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud services and architecture
  • Experience with Linux/Windows system administration
  • Experience with Docker containerization
  • Experience with Kubernetes orchestration
  • Experience with Active Directory administration
  • Proficiency in Git version control
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and integration with infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Understanding of event-driven system architecture

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain patch management processes for AWS infrastructure and legacy VMware vSphere environments
  • Monitor system performance and capacity planning across AWS and transitioning infrastructure
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Automate routine maintenance tasks and system provisioning
  • Assist in updating security models for least-privilege implementations
  • Implement and maintain security monitoring and alerting systems
  • Perform infrastructure security hardening and vulnerability management
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 27001, PCI DSS)
  • Automate key processes to improve efficiency across AWS infrastructure
  • Build monitoring and observability systems using industry-standard tools
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Participate in incident response and post-mortem reviews
  • Support change management processes and approval workflows
  • Manage incident escalation procedures and coordinate with team members
  • Maintain system documentation and runbooks
  • Provide technical guidance to development teams
  • Collaborate with security teams on threat mitigation
  • Work with DBA, network engineer, and DevOps engineer to ensure infrastructure reliability and security standards
