Job summary

The Infrastructure Platform Engineer is a senior technical leadership role focused on designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale infrastructure platforms for defense and aerospace operations.

Qualifications

  • Extensive IT infrastructure experience in an architecture role.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale infrastructure platforms.
  • Strong background in cloud architecture and hybrid infrastructure models.
  • Experience with virtualisation, storage, and high-availability design.
  • Track record of leading infrastructure modernisation programmes.
  • Experience in defence, aerospace, or government IT environments.
  • Expertise in infrastructure architecture patterns and design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, including services and cost optimisation.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies.
  • Proficiency in storage technologies and backup/recovery solutions.
  • Strong networking knowledge including SDN and network security.
  • Understanding of containerisation and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and high-availability design.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and technical depth.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and define enterprise infrastructure architectures.
  • Develop cloud strategy and hybrid infrastructure roadmaps.
  • Establish infrastructure design patterns and best practices.
  • Lead capacity planning and infrastructure optimisation initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
  • Lead design and implementation of cloud platforms.
  • Architect virtualisation solutions and orchestration platforms.
  • Design disaster recovery and business continuity architectures.
  • Guide infrastructure modernisation programmes and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with security requirements and standards.
  • Lead technical teams and provide architectural direction.
  • Establish governance frameworks and operational standards.
  • Drive technical decision-making through design reviews.
  • Document architecture decisions and technical standards.
  • Architect security controls into infrastructure design.
  • Ensure compliance with security policy and industry standards.
  • Implement infrastructure hardening and vulnerability management.
  • Optimise infrastructure costs and energy efficiency.
