IT Infrastructure Engineer - RDT Hosting and Infrastructure (HI)

Job summary

The IT Infrastructure Engineer supports scientific computing platforms and shared data services for research teams, helping provide reliable high-performance storage and compute environments. The role covers platform operations, automation and CI/CD, service lifecycle collaboration, and optimization of scientific workflows and batch jobs, using technologies such as Linux, GPFS, Lustre, Bash, Python, Git, Ansible, Terraform, Slurm, and LSF.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience, ideally in a multinational or fast-paced environment.
• Healthcare or life sciences experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of distributed storage and parallel file systems such as GPFS, Lustre, or BeeGFS.
• Working knowledge of Linux distributions and command-line troubleshooting.
• Ability to write Bash scripts and basic Python for system automation; routine Git experience.
• Hands-on exposure to a configuration or automation tool such as Ansible or Terraform, and basic CI/CD concepts.
• Familiarity with HPC environments, batch job execution, or workload schedulers such as Slurm or LSF.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain high-performance storage platforms and parallel file systems.
• Monitor system availability, performance, and storage efficiency; support structured change management.
• Use automation, basic infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines to maintain research environments.
• Partner with customers and stakeholders across service design, deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Work with researchers to optimize scientific workflows, batch submissions, cluster utilization, and throughput.
• Identify and implement improvements to technical systems, operational workflows, and team collaboration.
