IT Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

Vertu Motors is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud & Platforms) to join their IT team in Gateshead. This hybrid role involves day-to-day infrastructure support, project work, and cloud engineering, focusing on maintaining core systems and contributing to improvements in cloud, automation, and platform technologies. Qualifications

• Solid infrastructure background
• Motivated to learn and develop
• Experience in enterprise infrastructure environments (servers, storage, virtualization)
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure
• Experience with Active Directory and core Microsoft services
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Experience with automation or Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
• Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD
• Experience working in hybrid environments (on-premise and cloud)
• Exposure to security tools and best practices
• Experience working within a multi-site organization

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain core infrastructure systems including servers, storage, and virtualization platforms
• Monitor system performance to ensure high availability
• Troubleshoot issues promptly and provide updates to users and stakeholders
• Act as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents, including Active Directory, VMware, and storage platforms
• Manage backup and disaster recovery processes
• Perform regular maintenance, patching, and housekeeping activities
• Work on cloud-based solutions across AWS and Azure, supporting design and implementation of new services
• Contribute to migration and infrastructure transformation projects
• Assist with building and maintaining infrastructure using automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• Support the development of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow change control processes
• Support asset management, licensing, and compliance activities
• Ensure systems meet security and hardening standards
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver improvements and projects
