Job summary

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing security, hardware lifecycle, and operational efficiency of technology assets across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Linux (Ubuntu LTS), file permissions, systemd, and scripting.
• Familiarity with cloud identity management and stateful firewalls.
• Proven track record in hardware procurement and asset tracking.
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Manage and secure ~90 endpoints across 3 locations.
• Administer perimeter defenses using OPNsense, Tailscale, and JumpCloud.
• Monitor security telemetry via Wazuh SIEM.
• Verify automated server backups to AWS S3.
• Provide backup to the Lead DevOps Engineer.
• Manage lifecycle for laptops, desktops, and edge devices.
• Procure, deploy, and decommission hardware.
• Maintain data integrity in AssetTiger.
• Own IT onboarding and offboarding workflows.
• Audit software seats and SaaS subscriptions.
• Evaluate and implement COTS software tools.
• Deliver cybersecurity hygiene training to staff.
• Provide L1/L2 technical support for workstations and network printers.
