Junior Cloud Operations Engineer

Job summary

The Junior Cloud Operations Engineer helps build and maintain cloud systems for SaaS solutions in the government domain, working with senior engineers and cross-functional DevOps, software engineering, and QA teams. The role focuses on AWS and Azure infrastructure, deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, service monitoring, observability, and incident response, including participation in a trained on-call rotation. It also supports reliable operations through process documentation and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear communication and active listening
• Understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing
• System administration knowledge for Linux or Windows
• Some scripting or programming experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Familiarity with AWS or Azure services is beneficial but not required
• Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Interest in learning new technologies and cloud systems

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers and DevOps, software engineering, and QA teams to build and maintain cloud systems
• Automate deployments and monitor critical services
• Configure and optimize AWS and Azure infrastructure
• Build automated CI/CD pipelines and contribute to operational best practices
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident management
• Set up observability tools and help detect and resolve issues
• Document processes and share knowledge with the team
