Kubernetes Engineer – Rancher / RKE2

Job summary

Provides hands-on, on-site operational support for enterprise Kubernetes platforms managed with SUSE Rancher and RKE2. The role covers cluster administration, troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, security controls, and backup and restore across on-premise and air-gapped environments, while delivering technical guidance and knowledge transfer to customer teams.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on IT experience, including at least 2 years operating Kubernetes in production.
• Practical experience operating Rancher and RKE2.
• Working knowledge of Helm; GitOps exposure to Rancher Fleet, Argo CD, or Flux is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging.
• Experience in on-site, on-premise enterprise environments.
• Advanced English; Arabic is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site operational support for Rancher-managed RKE2 clusters.
• Perform cluster health checks and manage nodes, workloads, namespaces, projects, and Rancher RBAC access.
• Troubleshoot nodes, pods, networking, DNS, ingress, storage, and certificate issues; escalate with clear findings.
• Manage downstream clusters, projects, users, roles, the app catalog, and Helm deployments in Rancher Manager.
• Support RKE2 installation, configuration, scaling, and maintenance in on-premise and air-gapped environments.
• Assist with Kubernetes, RKE2, and Rancher upgrades, etcd snapshots, and Rancher backup and restore.
• Monitor platforms using Prometheus, Grafana, and logging; respond to alerts and incidents.
• Apply security baselines, including the RKE2 CIS profile, Pod Security Admission, and network policies.
• Deliver technical guidance and hands-on knowledge transfer to customer and internal teams.
• Create and maintain runbooks, operational procedures, and platform documentation.
• Coordinate with customer stakeholders and technical teams.
