Job summary

The Principal Cloud Platform Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for overseeing cloud infrastructure and driving modernization efforts within a Terraform-managed ECS/Fargate environment. Key responsibilities include migrating to GitHub Actions, implementing AI-driven automation using Python and Bash, and ensuring compliance with ISO 27001 and PCI DSS standards while mentoring a team of DevOps engineers.

Qualifications

• Deep, current, production-grade AWS experience
• Expert Terraform skills
• Strong command of GitHub Actions
• Proven background in PCI DSS, ISO 27001, APRA CPS 234, or Essential Eight
• Strong Python, Bash, and SQL scripting skills
• Ability to mentor distributed engineers
• Write clear documentation
• Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders about risk, cost, and trade-offs

Responsibilities

• Chair the weekly platform review
• Set engineering standards
• Join the Architecture Review Board
• Sign off on all AWS/GCP architecture and shared Terraform modules
• Complete the delivery migration to GitHub Actions and GitOps-driven ECS releases
• Bring legacy Elastic Beanstalk under Terraform control
• Retire end-of-life operating systems and runtimes
• Write Python and Bash to eliminate manual toil
• Track DORA metrics (via DX)
• Deploy AI/agentic automation for self-healing remediation and intelligent incident triage
• Partner with Cyber Security and IT Risk to maintain ISO 27001 and PCI DSS controls
• Consolidate logging/alerting across New Relic, CloudWatch, and Grafana
• Establish SLOs
• Drive FinOps practices
• Cross-train Vietnam-based team
• Design a reliable on-call rotation once runbooks and alerting are mature
