Job summary

The Lead Data Platform Engineer is tasked with developing scalable data solutions within the Microsoft SQL Server ecosystem, focusing on Very Large Database (VLDB) management and performance optimization. Responsibilities include overseeing ETL processes using Microsoft BI tools, conducting SQL code reviews, and ensuring database security through methods like Transparent Data Encryption (TDE). This role also involves mentoring junior developers and assessing risks in business decisions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis
• Proven and extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and optimizing solutions for very large databases
• Demonstrated ability in performance tuning for SQL Server
• Deep understanding and practical experience in advanced data modeling principles
• Extensive experience with data loading processes and ETL development
• Strong experience in SQL code reviews
• Proven experience in managing database security
• Ability to leverage AI tools for efficient SQL code refactoring
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Managing, developing, and optimizing solutions for very large databases
• Leading performance tuning efforts for SQL Server databases
• Working closely with the dedicated DBA team
• Overseeing and guiding robust data loading processes and ETL development
• Applying advanced data modeling principles and driving data architecture decisions
• Conducting rigorous code reviews for SQL
• Maintaining and enhancing existing entitlement and permission models
• Leveraging AI tools to assist in SQL code refactoring
• Serving as an advisor and coach to mid-level developers and analysts
• Appropriately assessing risk in business decisions
