Job summary
The Lead Kubernetes Platform Engineer is essential for driving digital transformation by developing and managing the enterprise Kubernetes platform. This role involves leading the design of core platform services, implementing GitOps and Infrastructure as Code practices, and ensuring platform reliability and performance while mentoring engineers on Kubernetes best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or technology field
- High School diploma and six years of hands-on experience
- Five years of experience designing or operating Kubernetes platforms
- Five years of experience with cloud infrastructure or related disciplines
- Strong Information Security background
- Experience supporting large-scale Kubernetes environments
- Experience with WebSphere/JBOSS and Apache
- Comfortable in on-call rotation
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and security
- Strong automation and scripting experience
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally AWS CloudFormation
- Experience implementing CI/CD and GitOps solutions
- Experience with container technologies including Docker and Helm
- Strong understanding of observability platforms
- Experience designing Kubernetes security controls
- Working knowledge of cloud networking and API management
Responsibilities
- Technical owner of Red Hat OpenShift on AWS platform
- Lead enterprise consolidation of Kubernetes estate onto ROSA HCP
- Define platform practices for containerized applications
- Design and maintain enterprise architecture and platform standards
- Establish standards for high availability and disaster recovery
- Lead design of core platform services including ingress and observability
- Own GitOps and Infrastructure as Code approach
- Define self-service capabilities for developer productivity
- Lead day-to-day platform operations
- Own platform reliability and performance
- Promote engineering excellence through technical leadership
- Coach engineers on Kubernetes best practices
- Guide application teams through modernization
