Job summary

Lead ML/AI Platform Engineer responsible for transitioning machine learning from experiment to production, including training infrastructure and model serving. Collaborate with the Data Platform Architect to set technical direction for AI/ML and drive the engineering side of the GenAI/LLM strategy.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in software or ML engineering, including 5+ years shipping production ML systems
  • Demonstrated technical leadership
  • Hands-on experience with operating models
  • Deep working knowledge of AWS stack
  • Production experience with GenAI/LLMs
  • Familiarity with vector databases
  • Working knowledge of Java
  • Deep expertise in Python and core ML stack
  • Solid MLOps fundamentals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to operate as an independent contractor

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Data Platform Architect to set technical direction for AI/ML
  • Own the ML/AI platform: training infrastructure, model serving, inference pipelines
  • Feature engineering, model training, model registry, hosted inference in Amazon SageMaker
  • GenAI/LLM usage, fine-tuning, agentic workflows in Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore
  • Build feedback and data pipelines using AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Functions
  • Integrate ML services with Java microservices
  • Drive engineering side of GenAI/LLM strategy
  • Provide depth on emerging agent stack
  • Collaborate with Data Scientist on experimentation to production handoff
  • Identify high-impact ML opportunities with product, data, and engineering leadership
  • Represent AI/ML function in cross-functional forums
