Job summary

The Lead Platform Automation Engineer at RBC will be responsible for designing and implementing self-service platform capabilities and intelligent automation systems to enhance software delivery across payment systems. This role involves leading the evolution of DevOps practices towards a modern platform engineering model, integrating AI capabilities, and mentoring team members.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of expertise in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles
• Proficient developer in at least one common object-oriented language
• Deep understanding of platform engineering principles
• Strong AI literacy
• Experience evaluating and integrating AI-powered developer tools
• Hands-on experience with platform and automation tools
• Deep expertise with GitHub Actions and GitOps methodologies
• Advanced Kubernetes and OpenShift experience
• Experience with distributed systems architecture
• Extensive experience across cloud environments
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience leading technical teams

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of self-service platform capabilities
• Architect and build intelligent automation systems
• Lead the development and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code frameworks
• Design and implement context engineering patterns for AI-assisted development workflows
• Create, evaluate, and integrate AI-powered developer tools
• Lead the deployment and scaling of distributed workflow orchestration systems
• Build and maintain platform observability stacks
• Create and review technical design documents
