Qualifications
- 6–15 years of experience in robotics, UAV, automotive controls, or real-time vision systems in non-corporate environments
- Shipped real systems under compute, bandwidth, and power constraints
- Strong C++, embedded Linux, and real-time systems experience
- Integrated third-party code into production
- Negotiate technical scope with external companies
- Strong hiring instincts, high ownership, and low politics
- Completed degree or equivalent training in a relevant field
Responsibilities
- Own a core technical differentiator
- Build and scale the software organization for drone systems
- Ship critical technical domains end-to-end
- Orchestrate internal and external software modules into a coherent system
- Grow the team from 5 to 15+ engineers with the CTO
- Shape architecture, integration strategy, and engineering culture
- Ensure system intelligence for European sUAS sovereignty and combat readiness
- Drive a key differentiator end-to-end (controls or vision pipeline)
- Merge critical code
- Integrate flight controller, companion compute, RF, and GCS into a coherent stack
- Define logging, replay, test, and validation infrastructure
- Set strategy for software modules
- Evaluate suppliers
- Prevent vendor lock-in through clean abstraction layers
- Manage technical interfaces and contracts with external companies
- Keep system intelligence in-house and within export constraints
- Hire top-tier engineers
- Set the technical bar through ownership and role clarity
- Drive accountability, performance, and growth paths
