Lead Site Reliability Engineer

Job summary

Leads site reliability for mission-critical payment processing platforms on HP NonStop (Tandem), ensuring availability, resilience, and scalability for real-time transaction systems. The role owns SLOs, incident response, automation, release readiness, and disaster recovery planning for payment switching, while setting operational standards and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with HP NonStop (Tandem) platforms.
• Knowledge of NonStop OS, Pathway, TMF, EMS, OSS, TACL, and diagnostic tooling.
• Experience supporting high-throughput, low-latency, real-time transaction systems.
• Production reliability experience in 24/7 environments.
• Experience with payment networks or financial transaction processing.
• Understanding of transaction switching, routing, authorization, and settlement flows.
• Familiarity with PCI-regulated, high-availability production systems.
• Lead or Senior SRE or Production Engineering experience preferred.
• Exposure to platform automation, monitoring, or observability tooling preferred.
• Experience with globally distributed teams and systems preferred.
• ITIL or reliability-engineering operational mindset preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own availability, performance, latency, and resilience of payment platforms on HP NonStop.
• Define and enforce SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for payment services.
• Lead response to high-severity production incidents and coordinate triage, mitigation, and resolution.
• Conduct blameless post-incident reviews and track root-cause follow-up actions.
• Automate monitoring, diagnostics, deployment, and recovery workflows.
• Improve service operability, observability, and failure handling with engineering teams.
• Lead release readiness and production validation for payment-switching changes.
• Define rollback, failover, and recovery strategies; participate in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises.
• Set operational standards for runbooks, monitoring, alerting, and reliability.
• Mentor SREs and operations engineers and influence reliability strategy.
