Lead Test Automation Engineer (m/w/d)

Job summary

As a Lead Test Automation Engineer, you will build and lead a new test automation team in Bucharest and Ulm, shaping the test strategy for a multi-year transformation.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in test automation or quality engineering
• Experience with modern web test automation
• Understanding of testing beyond the UI
• Interest in testing modern architectures
• Experience or interest in mobile test automation
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Enjoyment in building and mentoring a team
• Fluent in English; German or Romanian is a plus

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the new test automation team
• Shape the test architecture for the modernized stack
• Establish quality practices in the distributed architecture
• Anchor automated quality gates in GitLab
• Define the testing responsibility model with development teams
• Steward the legacy portfolio through transformation
• Mentor and upskill existing testers
• Contribute to technical standards and architecture decisions
