Mac Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

Build and own the core virtualization layer for the macOS platform, pushing the limits of macOS virtualization in the cloud. This role involves working across virtualization, scheduling, storage, and infrastructure to create fast, reliable, and scalable Apple Silicon environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on virtualization experience with Virtualization.framework, KVM, QEMU, or similar technologies
• Ability to push through ambiguity and take ownership
• Deep curiosity and drive to understand and improve systems
• Strong bias towards execution, shipping, learning, and iterating quickly

Responsibilities

• Build a macOS virtualization platform, optimizing performance, cold-start times, and density using Apple’s Virtualization.framework
• Own the Mac-specific layer, including VM lifecycle, host integration, and the storage and image pipeline for fast cloning and snapshotting
• Apply hands-on virtualization experience to solve undocumented problems
• Integrate with and extend the fleet scheduler to place VMs across the Apple Silicon fleet
