Manager of Platform Engineering

Job summary

Leads the platform engineering team responsible for a customer-facing fleet operations platform, ensuring its availability, security, and scalability across Azure and hybrid infrastructure. Combines hands-on architecture and operations with team leadership, advancing Kubernetes, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, SRE practices, observability, security controls, and disaster recovery to support 24x7 services and customer SLAs.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of progressive platform, DevOps, or software engineering experience, including 2–3 years leading or managing an engineering team.
• Expertise in Azure services, including compute, AKS, identity, security, and monitoring.
• Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical customer-facing platforms at enterprise scale.
• Strong security and compliance controls experience.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, Infrastructure as Code, and observability platforms.
• Knowledge of ITIL or similar change management, risk assessment, and audit-ready documentation.
• Ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing technical teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and ambiguity.
• Strong accountability and ownership of outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and retain platform engineers across DevOps and SRE.
• Own platform strategy, roadmap, and execution aligned with business goals and customer SLAs.
• Monitor engineering KPIs and report progress to the CTO.
• Design and operate hybrid Azure and on-premise infrastructure.
• Maintain availability, scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency across environments.
• Lead cloud optimization and cost governance initiatives.
• Advance CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Establish SRE practices, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, observability, and blameless postmortems.
• Implement security and compliance controls across infrastructure.
• Lead infrastructure incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation.
• Own disaster recovery strategy, testing, and recovery procedures.
• Ensure backup and restore capabilities for critical systems.
