OBSERVABILITY ENGINEER

Job summary

Own and operate observability across more than 50 production Kubernetes clusters, supporting the reliability and performance of mission-critical applications in a financial services environment. Design and maintain monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting infrastructure using Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, and Loki, with GitOps deployments, long-term metrics storage, multi-cluster federation, and intelligent alerting across development, QA, UAT, production, and disaster recovery environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-scale observability infrastructure using Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, Loki, and collection agents.
• Manage observability deployments using GitOps and infrastructure as code.
• Implement long-term metrics storage using cloud object storage.
• Maintain and upgrade observability components across development, QA, UAT, production, and disaster recovery environments.
• Configure distributed observability architecture across data centers and cloud providers.
• Design Prometheus monitoring strategies for Kubernetes infrastructure and containerized applications.
• Create ServiceMonitors and PodMonitors for automated metrics collection.
• Develop intelligent alerting rules that minimize false positives.
• Configure multi-cluster metrics federation and aggregation.
• Optimize metrics cardinality, storage, and query performance.
