Operations Engineer (DevOps · IIS / SQL Server / Azure)

Job summary

The Operations Engineer maintains production reliability across dedicated-customer-server and multi-tenant SaaS platforms while improving their deployment and infrastructure architecture. The role is approximately 80% DevOps and 20% SQL Server operations, covering CI/CD pipelines, Azure services, monitoring, incident troubleshooting, database maintenance, and gradual modernisation using technologies including TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Bitbucket Pipelines, PowerShell, Ansible, IIS, and SQL Server.

Qualifications

• Typically at least 3 years of experience across operations and SQL engineering.
• Practical T-SQL query and stored procedure experience, with familiarity with database backups, restores, maintenance, and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines; TeamCity and Octopus Deploy experience is preferred.
• Practical experience deploying or operating Azure services.
• PowerShell experience and ability to work with Bash.
• Comfortable troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues in Windows and Linux environments.
• Familiarity with Git branching strategies, code reviews, and release workflows.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines for dedicated-server and multi-tenant SaaS products.
• Automate deployments using Bitbucket Pipelines, self-hosted runners, PowerShell, and Ansible with Semaphore UI.
• Maintain SaaS build and release workflows using TeamCity and Octopus Deploy, including updates for modern .NET.
• Operate and evolve Azure services, including Azure Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage, and Container Apps.
• Improve centralised logging, monitoring, and alerting across products.
• Troubleshoot deployment failures and production issues across application, infrastructure, and database layers.
• Operate SQL Server for dedicated-customer and shared multi-tenant databases.
• Manage database backups, restores, maintenance, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Improve deployment reliability, rollback procedures, documentation, and operational automation.
• Contribute to platform modernisation through containerisation and adoption of Azure-managed services.
