Operations & Maintenance Cloud Engineer

Job summary

The Operations & Maintenance Cloud Engineer will support the CBP TPVS program, focusing on application production issues and providing technical support to users. This hybrid role requires on-site presence in Ashburn, VA, twice a week.

Qualifications

• 8 or more years of experience in supporting AWS application cloud solutions
• experience in 24x7x365 operations
• U.S. Citizen
• DHS Full Background investigation or previous within 2 years
• understanding of field operations and SLAs
• experience in PostgreSQL, advanced analytics, micro-services, monitoring, or SecDevOps
• working knowledge of AWS applications
• ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• excellent written and verbal communication skills
• solid troubleshooting techniques

Responsibilities

• serve as the initial point of contact for IT-related field and application production problems
• provide phone and online support to users
• perform technical triage and troubleshooting
• work with application teams to remediate production issues
• define and document application maintenance best practices
• provide guidance and mentorship to build cloud competencies
• ensure application performance and uptime
• monitor applications in the AWS environment
• develop technical efforts to maintain AWS applications
• troubleshoot incidents and document problems
• educate teammates on new cloud-based initiatives
• document service degradation and outage information
• ensure assigned tickets meet SLO commitments
• document procedures and troubleshooting steps
